Description

Telc (population 6 000) , one of the most picturesque Bohemian towns, is located on the Moravian part of Czech-Moravian Highlands. The Renaissance town centre was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List already in 1992.

The history of Telc starts in the 13th century when it was king's property and later sold to a noble family from Hradec. The historical centre lies between Stepnice Pond and Ulice Pond. Its square is surrounded by houses with arcades, archways and decorative portals. The town hall with well-preserved Gothic portals is one of the most beautiful houses in Telc. On the square there is also a hexagonal fountain from 1827 and opulent Mary's Column (1720). A chateau rebuilt from water castle can be found there.

Description

Zdar nad Sazavou (population 25 000) is located on the Sazava River and is a historical and cultural centre of Zdar region. The history of Zdar is connected with the local monastery and later with Pilgrimage Church of St John of Nepomuk at Zelena Hora which was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994.

The monastery was founded in the half of the 13th century and its monks most probably founded the town itself. The Church of St John of Nepomuk at Zelena Hora, constructed at the beginning of the 18th century on a star-shaped plan, it is the most unusual work by the great architect Jan Blazej Santini, whose highly original style falls between neo-Gothic and Baroque. There are also other sight e.g. The Church of Assumption of Virgin Mary, St. Procopius Church, a brige with 8 Baroque statues of saints and a square with town hall.

Description

The town Trebic (population 40 000) is located on the river Jihlava 160 km far from Prague and in the present time Trebic is not only a historical but also industrial centre. The historical centre of the town has been a protected area since 1990 and the unique Jewish Quarter with St. Procopius' Basilica became National Cultural Sights in 2002 and in 2003 were inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The history of Trebic begins with foundation of a Benedictine monastery in the beginning of the 12th century. There are many sights in Trebic e.g. Karlovo Namesti (Charles' Square), Rabluv dum (Rabl's House), Malovany dum (Painted House), St. Martin's Church, The Transfiguration Church and of course the jewel of Trebic - St. Procopius' Basilica from the 13th century.

On the left bank of the Jihlava River there are 123 houses of former Jewish Quarter including town hall, school, hospital and two synagogues. The Jewish Cemetery in Trebic is one of the biggest in the Czech Republic.
