Location

Trebon is located in the Southern Bohemia approximately half way between Ceske Budejovice and Jindichuv Hradec in a lowland area called "Trebonska panev" (Trebon Basin).

Brief history

The town history dates back to the half of the 12th century. The originally forest area with many peatbogs and swamps were made into picturesque countryside with fields, meadows, forests and many ponds connected with lots of canals and brooks.

Sights

Trebon together with Cesky Krumlov have been towns of a great importance in the history. Trebon was an administrative town of local area. Thanks to a frequent building activity of reigning noble families the town boasts about many beautiful historical buildings.

The well-preserved town fortification with five gates and several towers were protected by so-called "Zlata stoka" (Golden Gutter) and by the pond "Svet" (World) from the south. The Renaissance chateau connected with a long corridor with the local library and the Augustinian monastery is a very precious historic building. Nearby castle stands the unique Church of St. Jilji. The tower of Baroque town hall is a landmark of the town as well as the church. Many architectural styles can be found in the historic centre of the town.

The present time

Today's Trebon is famous for its spas and fish farming. Trebon spas offer accommodation and cure in two municipal spa houses - Bertiny lazne and Lazne Aurora (Berta's Spa and Aurora Spa). Several medical methods are used there - boggy baths and packs, hydrotherapeutic procedures, massages, physiotherapy, electrotherapy, paraffin packs, gas injections, acupuncture etc.
